Lögrétta helps with tax returns

Lögrétta, the law student society at the University of Reykjavík, will offer assistance with tax returns Friday March 20th from 09.00-21.00. The service is offered at the University of Reykjavík, Ofanleiti 2, 103 Reykjavík. The service is open for everyone and free of charge.

Preventive check-ups – free dental services for children

All three, six and twelve year old children are now offered free dental check-ups with dentists that work under commission of Sjúkratryggingafélag Íslands. Check-ups include talks and education about diet, mouth care and such. Also included is examinations, registration, dental cleansing and fluorine.

Information about dentist that work under commission of Sjúkratryggingafélag Íslands can be found on www.tr.is under “Tannlækningar”.

Dental repair is not included in this. If the child’s teeth need repairing Sjúkratryggingar Íslands pay 75% of the guideline rate list.

Drifkraftur – business course for immigrants

Impra offers a course for foreigners who have business ideas or are running a business in Iceland. The course starts April 3rd and lasts for 12 weeks. Lessons every Friday at 13.00 – 17.00 at Innovation Centre Iceland, Keldnaholt, 112 Reykjavik . The cost is 50.000 ISK, which can be divided into four months and participation is limited to 12 individuals

The subjects of the course are:

* Finance
* Marketing
* Laws and regulations for business in Iceland
* Service quality
* Personnel
* Business planning
* To present a business idea

Participants will learn to use their knowledge and potential and run a business in Iceland. Participants will get tutorials in the course, personal guidance, advice and information regarding their business or business idea. Lessons are in Icelandic. Participants need to understand spoken Icelandic well.

Participants can choose between delivering written tasks in English or Icelandic.

Open house on Friday

Movie night at the open house on Friday. The German film Lola rennt (Run Lola Run) will most likely be shown. Discussions and a cup of tea after the movie. It starts at 20 and is in the Intercultural Centre’s basement (entrance from side alley).

International day agains racism March 21st

Friday March 20th the Intercultural Centre will have an open house to celebrate the International day against racism. The programme will be introduced further in next week‘s newsletter but we remind you of the day and encourage you to help us draw attention to this day.
