The suspect is a foreigner! - the media discussion about immigrants and crimes
A conference will be held about media discussions about immigrants and crimes at Salurinn, Kópavogi, Friday April 18th at 1 pm to 5:45. The conference is a co-operative project of The Intercultural Centre, Ministry of Social Affairs, Multicultural and Information Center, the police academy, the association of journalists of Iceland and Kópavogur. The goal is to open up discussion about these matters. The agenda will be advertised on www.ahus.is – The fee is 1.000 kr. Please register at helga@ahus.is. The conference will be held in Icelandic.

The Intercultural Centre closes 12:30 tomorrow
The Intercultural Centre will close tomorrow at 12:30 instead of 3 pm because of the conference, The suspect is a foreigner! The Interpretation and Translation Department has the telephone service open until 3.



Open house special next Friday - 18 April
An informative meeting at the Intercultural Centre's Open House will be held Friday the 18th to discuss how to establish a better life in a new country. Guests will be: Eggert S. Sigurðsson - Information officer from Geðhjálp. Edda Ólafsdóttir - Social Worker from the Miðborg and Hliða Community Service Centre will discuss depression and anxiety and Herdís Benedikstdóttir - from Hugarafl. Furthermore, the Geysir Rehabilitation Club will introduce their activities and a representative from the Health Centre for Immigrants will talk about what options are available. All are welcome.


Monday nights are chessnights
Would you like to learn chess in good company? Then join us in Café Cultura every Monday and enjoy the Chess Evening promoted by the Icelandic Chess School in cooperation with the Intercultural Centre. There will be chess teaching from 8pm til 8:30pm/8:40pm and then chess playing til 10pm. Omar Salama will be the instructor. Everyone welcome. Free entrance.
