Ómar Ragnarsson Close to Solving Crime – Theft of his Own Car

“Elementary, my friend.” Sherlock Holmes? No, Ómar Ragnarsson.
Comedian, turned environmental activist, Ómar Ragnarsson, (b. 1940) was unlucky over the holidays. His car was stolen from a car dealer. He reclaimed his car on Tuesday night, sans 38 inch tires, a radio and glacier fenders.

On his blog Ómar says the stolen parts are worth approximately ISK 400 thousand (USD 3,300, EUR 2,500 ). He says that this incident has given him insight into a certain culture. It seems that certain individuals steal specific car parts. The number plates were also taken from the car indicating that the thieves are professionals and want to use the plates to confuse police in future crimes.

Ómar says that he is getting closer to solving the crime by the hour. He says that two men had to be involved in stealing the car, towing it from the car dealer in Bíldshöfdi and delivering it to Örfirisey. The odometer reading indicates that the thieves have some sort of shelter some distance from the city center.



“This is a bit of detective work. One does not know whether it will be solved or not,” Ómar says.
