This friday, 12th Desember, there will be Jola Glogg and carols in Open house,Laugavegur 37 (alley). We start at 20:00.

Artiparty Show - Celebrate the Christmas with Nybuautvarp 97,2 fm!

On Thursday 18th December 2008 will be radio on live at 18:00 from Alþjódahús - The Intercultural Center (Laugavegur 37). We would like to do a special event and celebrate a real Christmas party on air: The Artiparty Show!It will be some Dj's, live music, interviews, jólaglögg ... we'll be in the main entrance of Alþjódahús - the Intercultural Center, so everybody is welcome! Come and toast with us for the Nýbúaútvarp and the Christmas time! You can bring also some drinks or food to share.

Dont forget! - December Marketplace in Gerðuberg

Sunday December 13th from 13-16 will be a vibrant day in Gerðuberg; a marketplace where the people of Breiðholt can sell all sorts of winter goods, e.g. handicraft, cookies, toys, christmas ornaments, christmas candy or whatever comes to mind! The atmosphere will remind you of christmas with christmas music, christmas refreshments and a book recital for children and adults in several languages. Furthermore we will be introducing an international book exchange programme and encourage everyone to bring books and magazines in different languages and to take a book in return!

The December Marketplace is a collaboration between Gerðuberg, the Intercultural Centre in Breiðholt and Gerðuberg Public Library.

A family program in the National Centre for Cultural Heritage

Puppet show, book presentation and togetherness by the Christmas tree, December 21 2008

The National Centre for Cultural Heritage, Hverfisgata 15, welcomes the whole family on the last Sunday of Advent, to a diverse and cozy entertainment. The program is free of charge and starts at 14:00 with a puppet show. It is the Sögusvuntan Christmas exhibition; Jesúbarnið (the Christ child), based on a Russian Christmas Carol by Leo Tolstoy. This is a warm, feel good story in a true Christmas spirit the performance includes harp playing and a puppet show. Hallveig Thorlacius is the puppeteer and tells the story and Marion Herrera plays the harp. At 15.00, Jón Baldur Hlíðberg, a drawing artist, introduces the book Íslenskar kynjaskepnur (Icelandic fable creatures). His illustrations from the book are exhibited in the reception area and the restaurant of the Centre and the introduction may be regarded as the artists’ guidance through the drawings at the exhibition. Sigurður Ægisson wrote the book text. The presentation is suitable for the whole family. At 16.00 there wil l be a moment of togetherness by the Christmas tree in cooperation with the Intercultural Centre. We’re expecting good company, to sing for us and perhaps we will all be singing together.
