Spring Arrives at National Museum of Iceland

This weekend is the last chance to see the textile artwork “Skammdegi” (“Winter Darkness”) by Ingibjörg Styrgerdur Haraldsdóttir on display in the National Museum of Iceland. Since spring is in the air, her dark and wintry exhibition closes this weekend.

Haraldsdóttir (born 1948) studied art in Iceland and Vienna. Her work has been on display both at home and abroad, in countries such as Estonia, the US, Sweden and Belgium. She has received various awards for her contributions to the Icelandic art scene.

Another art exhibition also comes to an end in the National Museum this weekend, the poetry-inspired “Sjöund” by designer Sóley Stefánsdóttir and writer Gunnar Hersveinn.

To mark the occasion, the museum is organizing a poetry reading today between 11 am and 4 pm. Admission is free.
