Volunteers needed to Walk for a good cause

The Red Cross needs at least 2.500 volunteers to WALK FOR A GOOD CAUSE on Saturday 4 October so we can call on every home in the country. Why not take part – enjoy a refreshing walk and support a good cause at the same time. It will only take from 1-2 hours of your time or as long as you can give. The total sum collected will go to support the Red Cross project of reuniting families in the Congo. It is a wonderful opportunity for the people in Iceland to unite and walk for a good cause. You can enrol in advance on www.raudikross.is where you will find information on the assembly points all over the country. For more information please phone tel: 5704000. It is not necessary to enrol in advance. You can also turn up at assembly points on Saturday. The town of Akranes will hold its second International festival this coming November 8th in conjunction with The Society of New Icelanders and the Red Cross. There will be a meeting on Wednesday 8th October in the Red Cross house in Akranes, Þjóðbraut 13, at 3pm for all those interested in taking part. We are looking for immigrants to represent their country. Last year we had 16 nations represented. You do not need to be a resident of Vesturlands but from any part of Iceland. We are also looking for performers. If you cannot attend on Sunday but would still like to take part either in a booth representing your nation or would like to perform (or both) please contact:
